Ranking NBA’s top five title contenders: Bucks, Suns a cut above; Warriors a sleeping giant

Ranking NBAs top five title contenders Bucks ahead of two

The 2021-2022 NBA season is set to kick off soon and as always, fans are eager to see which team will reign supreme and take home the coveted Larry O’Brien Trophy. While every team will be vying for the title, only a select few can be considered serious contenders. Here, we take a look at the top five title contenders for this season.

1. Milwaukee Bucks – The reigning champions are undoubtedly the team to beat this season. Led by two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks possess an impressive roster that includes Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, and Brook Lopez. Their powerful defense and scoring ability make them a formidable opponent for any team.

2. Phoenix Suns – The Suns were one of last season’s surprise packages, making it all the way to the NBA Finals. Despite losing the championship to the Bucks, the Suns have bolstered their roster this year, adding multiple-time All-Star and champion Chris Paul to their already talented young core of Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton. With Paul’s leadership and experience, the Suns are poised for another deep playoff run.

3. Golden State Warriors – The Warriors are a sleeping giant this season. After being ravaged by injuries over the past two seasons, Golden State welcomes back sharpshooter Klay Thompson to their already potent roster that features Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and free agent acquisition, Otto Porter Jr. With a healthy Thompson, the Warriors will be a dangerous team that can score at will.

4. Brooklyn Nets – The Nets are stacked with talent, with the trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving leading the charge. However, injury issues plagued the team last season, and their lack of depth was a major concern. This year, the Nets will need contributions from their supporting cast if they hope to compete for the title.

5. Los Angeles Lakers – The Lakers revamped their roster over the offseason, adding All-Stars Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard. The team also returns LeBron James and Anthony Davis, making them a powerhouse on paper. However, the Lakers’ success will depend on how well their new pieces mesh with their core group, and if they can stay healthy.

While these five teams are the top contenders for the title, anything can happen in the NBA. Other teams such as the Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and Utah Jazz could make a run deep into the playoffs as well. As the season progresses, it will be exciting to see which team rises to the top and takes home the championship.
