The Ohio State Buckeyes football team has just added a set of twins to its recruiting class. Deontae and Devontae Armstrong, both 4-star recruits from Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School in Dayton, Ohio, committed to the Buckeyes on Monday, January 18th.

The Armstrong twins are both talented wide receivers, and their commitment brings Ohio State’s 2021 class to 18 members, ranked second in the nation behind Alabama according to 247Sports. The addition of the Armstrong twins is a huge boost to Ohio State’s passing game and offensive arsenal, giving head coach Ryan Day more weapons to work with.

Deontae Armstrong is listed as the 27th-best wide receiver in the nation, while Devontae is ranked 39th. Both brothers have great size and speed, standing at 6’2 and weighing over 200 pounds. They have been described as “a dynamic duo” on the field, with great ball skills and the ability to make big plays in crucial moments.

The Armstrong twins had a high level of interest from multiple top football programs, including Michigan State and Penn State. However, they ultimately chose Ohio State because of the program’s history of success, the Buckeyes’ strong emphasis on player development, and the opportunity to play for a championship-caliber team.

Ohio State has been dominant in recent years, with five straight Big Ten titles and two College Football Playoff appearances in the past four seasons under Day and his predecessor, Urban Meyer. The Buckeyes’ 2020 season was particularly impressive, despite being shortened due to COVID-19. Ohio State went undefeated in the regular season and reached the national championship game, where they fell to Alabama.

With the Armstrong twins joining the fold, the Buckeyes will look to continue their winning ways in the coming seasons. Deontae and Devontae are just the latest in a long line of standout wide receivers to come through Ohio State, including Michael Thomas, Terry McLaurin, and Chris Olave.

The Armstrong twins are set to begin their Ohio State careers in the fall of 2021. Buckeyes fans can look forward to seeing them in action, contributing to what promises to be another strong offense and continued success for the program.
